Imperfect World

There is one thing almost every one of the clients have in common- stress. It feels inevitable that our only choice in life is to be strung out, pulled down and hung out to dry. Like watching people jump out of a burning building we are all simply hoping to make it out alive, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that’s not going to happen. We really just have a short time here. A time, in which we need to find a way to laugh often, take care of our bodies, and love thy neighbor. Instead I fear we are focusing on cheap entertainment, altering are bodies, and being better then thy neighbor.

However I must admit I find focusing on only the simple and positive things in life is much easier said than done. My life has been very consistent in proving that no matter how much I try to plan, it doesn’t really matter, life happens regardless. You will never be able to assume who in time you will be, what you will grow to love, grow to hate and grow to believe. Yet daily I feel the stress build up during my attempt to over plan, over calculate and over perfect an increasingly imperfect world. I believe it takes true mental discipline to get over that, something I am still working on. In the mean time I like to focus on something I was once told. Depression by definition is regret or concern for things that have already occurred. Anxiety by definition is fear or worry for things that have yet to occur. Therefore the only true peace of mind has to come from living in the present: Stress free, content, and happy.

Encouraging Words

I consider words to be as versatile as water. Their meanings depend on their source, whether they come from a friend, lover, stranger, song lyric or movie line. Their interpretation tends to depend on your mood. And their power depends on your heart and inner self. This is why some whispered words can become the most powerful prayer, and as time passes it is those same words that leave you screaming for a way out. This is because nothing stays the same for long.

However, you get to choose, you can choose to simply hold onto those amazing words that contain the power to keep you together. The ones that provide you with hope, show you possibilities, make you laugh and help you believe. It is those words that will set you free, and in this present moment the only ones that really matter. It is by holding onto these small meaningful words that provides grounding in an ever evolving world. Right now I am going through more changes then I ever thought possible. Instead of opening a closet filled with skeletons, my closet seems lined with all the shells of my former self. So as I find myself trying to put away all the people I have been, and open my heart to all the people I may become, I utter to myself the most encouraging words and am reminded that this is simply for me: A Time to Soar.
